Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about training at CAMA.
Do I need prior martial arts experience to enroll?
No prior experience is necessary. CAMA welcomes students of all levels, from complete beginners to experienced martial artists. Our instructors tailor training to meet each student where they are.
What ages do you accept?
We offer programs for children, youth, and adults. Our Children's program is designed for younger students, our Youth program serves teenagers, and our Adult program is open to adults of all ages. Contact us for specific age group details.
Can I try a class before committing?
Yes. We offer a Complimentary Introductory Program — a free, no-obligation introductory period where prospective students can attend classes and experience training at CAMA before making any commitment.
What should I wear to my first class?
For your introductory classes, comfortable athletic clothing is fine — a t-shirt, sweatpants, or athletic shorts. No shoes are worn on the training floor. Once enrolled, students train in a traditional gi (uniform).
What is Seizan Ryu?
Seizan Ryu is the martial arts system taught at CAMA. It is a self-defense based fighting system — not a sport — derived from Japanese, Chinese, Filipino, and Indonesian martial arts. All techniques focus on real-world effectiveness for self-protection.
Is this a sport martial arts school?
No. CAMA teaches Seizan Ryu, which is focused entirely on practical self-defense for real-world situations. We do not train for tournaments, competitions, or sport fighting. Our approach prioritizes personal protection and safety.
What is the class schedule?
Classes run Monday through Saturday with different time slots for children, youth, and adults. Visit our Schedule page for the full current schedule with specific times for each program.
How much does it cost?
Please contact us directly for current tuition information. We offer a free introductory period so you can experience CAMA before making any financial commitment.
Do you teach weapons training?
Yes. Our curriculum includes both armed and unarmed training. Weapons training covers weapon defense and learning to protect yourself using traditional weapons, including knife defense and stick techniques drawn from Filipino martial arts.
How long does it take to earn a black belt?
Progress depends on each individual student's dedication, attendance, and effort. CAMA emphasizes mastery of skills over time rather than rushing advancement. Belt promotions are based on demonstrated proficiency, not a fixed timeline.
Can my whole family train here?
Absolutely. Many of our families train together at CAMA. With separate programs for children, youth, and adults, each family member receives age-appropriate instruction. Several of our instructors train alongside their own children.
Where are you located?
CAMA is located at 2090 W Littleton Blvd, Littleton, CO 80120. We are conveniently located in the heart of Littleton.
